EnergyNote is written by a nuclear and radiation professional working in South Korea. The Korean edition covers everyday radiation questions and Korea’s energy debates; this English edition focuses on what an insider’s view from Korea can add for international readers.

What you will find here

  • SMR and nuclear licensing, tracked by stage — design approval, construction permit, construction, commissioning — rather than by press release.

Principles

  1. Numbers carry their dates. Every article shows a “Data as of” date under the title, and time-sensitive figures are dated inline. When a figure is updated, the date is updated with it.
  2. Primary sources first. Regulators (NRC, CNSC, ONR, Korea’s NSSC and KINS), the IAEA, UNSCEAR and ICRP, peer-reviewed papers, and company filings. Where only news reporting is available, the outlet is named.
  3. Both sides of contested questions. New nuclear build, Fukushima discharge and low-dose radiation are argued on the merits, with the counter-arguments stated in their strongest form.
  4. No hype. SMRs are one of several candidate technologies, not a settled future. Company targets are reported as targets.
